CBC Leading The Way In Diversity
In 2016 Northlake Senior Campus’s Intensive English Centre (ICE) took part in a 6 week Welcome to AFL program run by the WAFC. 17 boys were involved in the program and came from a range of different backgrounds including Myanmar, Zimbabwe and Sudan.
Following the success of the program last year, 6 of the boys aged between 17- 21, showed a keen interest to join a local community AFL club in season 2017.
CBC President Brad Stirling was very excited to hear about these boys and along with WAFC met with the school to make the transition from school programs to club football as easy as possible for the boys. He knew this was a great opportunity to add new diverse players to the club.
Paul and his coaches hosted the first session last night at Moris Buzzacott Reserve (CBC Home ground). They all finished the evening with a smile on their faces and an excited thought of what the future can hold for them.
